When this diy came to me I smacked myself on the forehead and said "Doy!". So....I have been slacking on getting the kids room together. Seriously slacking. But this weekend I got it in my head to get'er done.... well, at least started. My first mission: The Gallery Wall. But always a but I didn't want to spend a thing. And I didn't. I gathered up some old canvases from the depths of the hall closet and spray painted them with chalkboard paint. The canvases were sourced from Hobby Lobby (intend... Continue reading ...

I am feeling super in love lately, and when I feel extra mushy gushy I just have to express it... craft wise. Yesterday was the mister and mine's third anniversary and I whipped up this little number to satisfy my desire to shout it from the rooftops. It's a pretty and shiny beacon of joy. When I walk in the bedroom and see it, it brings a smile to my face. On a side note this piece of art would also be totally adorable in say a nursery, living room, bedroom, garage, cellar, dungeon ect. You ... Continue reading ...

Pretty excited about this one. Most of my diy projects turn out fine, but it's only a select few that turn out extra supercalafragalisticexpealadocious.... or 'thats co' in man talk. If I get a, 'that's nice honey' from the huz then I know my project turned out awwwwesome. Earlier this week I took the kids to one of my favorite places to gather inspiration, Balboa Park. I went there looking for landscaping ideas, but left with my eyes wide wanting some wrought (or cast) iron artwork for the ho... Continue reading ...

Wood, Nail & String Art Plus Office Peek
As I mentioned before, we swapped rooms. Me and my little girl that is. I took over her bedroom for my office and she and her little brother are in the other spare room. It is twice the size and just perfect for two little hooligans to do cartwheels in. As for my 'new' office I decided to leave the paint color and just work with what I have around the house to decorate and style. Boy do I have a lot of stuff. It sure is pretty though. Purging tchotskies is not a strong suit of mine. I am a cl... Continue reading ...

so you may have seen this image floating around pinterest or general cyberspace.... This bedroom belongs to the fantastically talented Dutch Artist and Illustrator Eline Pellinkhof . Her cute and creative casa was featured here. Her home is warm and full of interesting nooks and crannies... but it is this painted wall that really got my creative juices flowing... maybe even turned those juices little green because 'why didn't I think if that?!' But any-who I am glad that she shared her lovel... Continue reading ...

Ok. Love anthropologie but sometimes I think 'you got to be kidding me?!' with regards to their prices. this is a perfect example Yellow Bird by Tom Judd.... ok yes it is an original painting/collage but REALLY NOW??? $1500 for a 10"x10" piece of art. One thousand five hundred dollars for less than ONE SQUARE FOOT?!?!?! Bawwwwwhhhhh So I gave it a try myself. While I am happy with the results I admit that it is not perfect. Well hey now, I'm not a professional artist you know. Tips and pointers: ... Continue reading ...

So this DIY covers a couple of bases. First off it is an idea for what you can do with those scraps of wood that are laying about. I have a couple of those, well actually maybe a garage full. My hording tendencies kick in and I can't get rid of them. I just can't! Second this DIY covers the reverse stencil technique. Pretty simple but easy to over look when you think about stenciling. Lastly it covers how to make your own contact paper. I never have it around but I always seem to need i... Continue reading ...
DIY Branchlers
Branchlers? Yes I said it... branchlers. The hubs is a little peeved about this DIY. He has been nudging me for a while about hanging a deer head or two in the house and I have adamantly said no. Not just no but HELLS NO! I am all for hunting and fishing, I just think it crosses the line to bring such game into the house as home decor.... just a tad creepy when you are wandering around in the middle of the night looking to get a glass of water. Just what I need to do is scare the bej... Continue reading ...

Today we are doing a quick run through of projects that I have posted about before that I think would be a great addition to any nursery. I am currently in deep creating my last two projects for the week, so while I am busy with them I thought a recap of projects that are applicable would be nice. First is the infamous tissue paper pom-poms. I love this skill and use them all the time. I created a nice little reading nook in the corner of the nursery and these hang from the ceiling making it f... Continue reading ...

How to Press Flowers with Wax Paper
Get ready to have a flashback to elementary school with this craft tutorial. This is very similar to melted crayon wax paper crafts, but with a more grown up and 'springy' twist. Now go for a little walk through your yard and pick some interesting little flowers and leaves. The daintier the better, try to avoid bulky roses :) Enjoy! What you will need: A roll of wax paper, tear off two large sheets. Fresh flowers and leaves (like I said earlier, dainty w... Continue reading ...
Button Art
Does any one else love buttons as much as I do? Every time I head to Micheal's or Hobby Lobby I have to upgrade my button stash just a little bit. And don't even get me started about flea markets and the endless vintage ones I can gorge myself on! I think I am going to do a series on kids room art work and this will be the first one. Fairly simple. You can do letters like this tutorial demonstrates, or you can do little animals or silhouettes. Really the options are only limited my your creat... Continue reading ...
