If you took a peek at my home tour on Life Made Lovely last week you would have seen my penchant for incorporating vintage materials into my home. Worn woods, reclaimed architectural features like windows, doors and ladders and vintage tin ceiling panels. I was lucky enough to source enough vintage tin to cover our kitchen soffit. What a score that was! And for only a couple of hundos. I know that may sound like a lot of money but it's really not. On my weekly round abouts through the local s... Continue reading ...

If you share any of the same decorating tendencies as moi (impulsive yet a penny pincher) then this DIY it just for you. Lately I have been on a bit of a yellow kick for decorating the shared kid's bedroom. I bet it all started with our beloved Rody. Rody is our bright yellow bouncing horse. With his little red heart forehead, chubby little body and stumpy legs. He is just so full of sunshine and cheer. One of my favorites of the toy herd. So on my journey to incorporate yellow into the decor... Continue reading ...

If you know anything about antique mirrors, then you know they are crazy expensive or very very hard to find. And even if you do find one in your price range there is always something wrong with it. Broken, missing pieces, too small, too big wrong color... the list goes on. Even though it is a fickle find I continue to pine for antique mirrors and try to source them from every antiques store I frequent . I want whole walls covered in the stuff. That's how much I love the time worn aura and l... Continue reading ...
Wood, Nail & String Art Plus Office Peek
As I mentioned before, we swapped rooms. Me and my little girl that is. I took over her bedroom for my office and she and her little brother are in the other spare room. It is twice the size and just perfect for two little hooligans to do cartwheels in. As for my 'new' office I decided to leave the paint color and just work with what I have around the house to decorate and style. Boy do I have a lot of stuff. It sure is pretty though. New Year New Room
New paint color really. Truth is that I was never really sold on the color our master had been. I was going for a sophisticated gray with a hint of lavender. In my mind it was going to be classy, moody, unique. Unique is right.... it came out straight up PURPLE. A weird mauve in your face purplish tone. In the early morning light I was ok with it, but every other time I was just annoyed when I caught a glimpse of it. Heck... I even painted a mural over it to try and change my heart about it. N... Love them, love looking at them, but I am not so fond of the thing hanging in front of them. The fixture over our sink has never been right. Before and After: Staircase Family Photo Wall
This wall has been the bane of my existence. I get heartburn just looking at it. Bahhhhh, it frustrates me to no end! Ok a little exaggerated , but you get my point. I have had such trouble figuring out what to do with this wall. In the short year and a half we have been here it has had quite a few 'lives'. First it was a dining area. Then a reading nook. Brings back the memories. We have this great black and white photo of the hubs grand pappy and a new sparkly frame just didn't do it justice. easy. simple. fun. anthropologie knock-off 'kindergarten style'. I just pulled up a couple of Anthropologie lampshades and bedding examples and riffed off those. Just sketch very lightly with your pencil and go slowly with the puff paint to avoid blow outs. We want to avoid the splatter spin art look here :) It is hard to see in the pics but it is the texture that makes the shade so awesome. Looks faux embroidered.
