When this diy came to me I smacked myself on the forehead and said "Doy!". So....I have been slacking on getting the kids room together. Seriously slacking. But this weekend I got it in my head to get'er done.... well, at least started. My first mission: The Gallery Wall. But always a but I didn't want to spend a thing. And I didn't. DIY Vintage Painted Sign: Antique Character in an Instant
Anyone else have a major pickin habit? And I don't mean your nose! I mean antique hunting / salvage yard snooping / garage sale gawking / flea market fishing / swap meet swooping.... that kinda picking. I have a running list of items that I'm always on the hunt for. Goes a little like this: window frames, bird cages, beat up tool boxes, chairs (unfortunately I inherited my mother's love of a good seat) and last but certainly not least good ol' fashioned signage. Here is my tweak on a crazy popular hairstyle right now, the braided headband. Nothing really that crazy, I just threw in a couple of fishtail braids. I think I actually prefer a fishtail now. If I braid my hair with a couple of these, while it's still damp, after it drys I'm left with some pretty (and natural looking) waves. If you haven't already, check out my braided fishtail crown DIY, it's pretty popular. Or go here to see the rest of my beauty diys. Now onto the tut Simple, pretty and i... Continue reading ...
DIY Drawer Freshener (Perfume Envelopes)
Anyone else doing some spring cleaning? Anyone? Well we certainly are. Talk 'bout a pain in the rear right?! But it's gotta get done. Our first major task, you ask? I am feeling super in love lately, and when I feel extra mushy gushy I just have to express it... craft wise. Life At Home
Sooo. I know I promised a DIY stitched envelope tutorial. It is coming. I just had to pick up some thread in a different color. Don't worry it will be worth it.. you will be able to bath in all it's cuteness glory. But mostly I wanted to check in and let you know that this weekend was dedicated to prepping for my Halloween extravaganza. A little early? Yeah I guess so... but I plan on starting a family tradition of a totally awesome blow-your-socks-off Halloween Costume party and I w... Continue reading ...

Ok so this DIY is a total rip off of my DIY Faux 'Beaded' Indian Beaded Bracelet, same concept just applied differently...I guess I am just flattering myself by copying it :) So this whole husband working nights has really freed up some time for me. I probably could go completely 'old lady' and pick up hand embroidery and hand beading (no offense if you enjoy these past times... but I have yet to encounter a fellow 26 year old who does ;). I love the look but not so in love with the effo... Continue reading ...
DIY Fabric & Paper Stitched Cards (Tips For Sewing On Paper)
There really is nothing like a handmade card. Such a special little treat when you open up an envelope and you see this little piece of crafty heaven. Someone made it with their own two hands. It is like getting a chunk of the love chocolate bar via the post.
And giving a handmade card? Oh it is so nice to be nice :) Sometimes you just want the person to feel how special they are to you. I plan on sending some fall valentines to my sweethearts who are spread out across the US. Here are my ... Continue reading ...

Feel like fall yet for you? Not quite fall-like here... high eighties with a hot hot breeze. Not really sweater weather either... but I just had to scratch this itch I have had lately for lace. Lace is just so pretty. I love lace in an old-lady-crocheting-doilies-in-her-recliner-with-a-lace-shawl-over-her-shoulders kind of way... not so much the hot-child-in-the-city kind of way. If you catch my drift. So here is my ode to my fellow old lady lace loving sisters... Continue reading ...

This one goes out to all my fellow bibliophiles.... holla!
Brass Tacks: Pretty self explanatory here. Find a big ol book, slice it up and shove in a couple of bud vases.... ok that wasn't much help was it? The key to this DIY is finding a bud vase that will fit inside a book. In this case my book was the 7th installment of Harry Potter (sorry Harry!). It was big, bulky and taking up space... time to re-purpose. I found the little bud vases at where else, Hobby Lobby. They were on sale and were ... Continue reading ...

so lately I have really been feeling the Indian beaded bracelet look. Perfect for summer. Free spirited. Just plain cool and they really never go out of style. A classic.
