Posted by Honor on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, In : Crafter's Toolbox

There was a blowout sale of the Easter flowers at my local Walmart. A dozen roses for $2 and spring mixes for $1. What a score right?! These flowers above are only the beginning of what looks like a florist exploded in my house. It's not everyday you can snatch up fresh flowers for a steal, so I went a little overboard.... spring has sprung right?

Here is a round up of my favorite tips and tricks for taking care of cut flowers and making them last.

*When picking flowers at local grocery store, ...

DO IT YOURSELF Bookcase Dollhouse

A perfect rainy day project. This little old lady of a bookcase was fancified over the weekend. All it took was me dragging out my unbelievably large stash of scrapbook paper, scissors and many glue sticks.
Plus # 1: It is free! Go green right? Recycle, reduce and reuse...
Plus # 2: The kids can participate.
Plus # 3: The finished product is so darn toot'n cute.

Here we go... tricks and tips follow below each picture but this DIY is pretty self explanatory...

DIY Falling for Fall Door Sign

Posted by Honor on Sunday, September 23, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

I was feeling festive this weekend and decided that our front door needed to be festive as well. So I scrounged around the craft closet to see what I had. To be found were four little canvases, lots of scrapbook paper, paint and some wooden letters that we intended for another project. This one won the battle of fall diys that were dancing around in my noodle.

It is a pretty straight forward diy.

First cut out scrapbook paper and glue to the canvas. I left a little border around the edge so I...

Driftwood Crafts: Painbrush, Pen or Toothbrush Holder

Posted by Honor on Friday, July 6, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

This scenario went down yesterday.

The hubs came rushing in out of the garage while on the phone saying 'Hold on let me get a pen'. He was in hot pursuit of a killer Craigslist deal and needed to get all the details. He rummaged around in one junk drawer.

Then moved on the the next.

And the next.

Then utensils, plates and pots and pans were rattled and strewn about, until he shoots me a dirty look and rushes out of the room again. It happens all the time. Got me thinking that I need a place f...

Posted by Honor on Thursday, April 5, 2012, In : Crafter's Toolbox

Everything you need to know about GLUE & ADHESIVES
This week's crafter's tool box is all about glue! I believe that a good glue is the most important part of your crafter's tool box! So many crafts hinge upon a glue and will be a complete flop if they don't preform.... have you seen Craft Fail lately?
Glue seems so simple, but yet it can be so AWESOME. Here are my favorites and what I find are their best uses.

Elmer's All Purpose Craft Glue: What can't you use this for? Besides the gener...

Felt Birdhouse: Spring Time Craft Idea

Posted by Honor Hansen on Monday, March 19, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

How to Make a Felt Birdhouse

So colorful and cheerful right? Just perfect for springtime. I have this cute bugger adorning my bookcase in the living room. As soon as you enter the front door, eyes automatically whiz over to it. Kind of hard to miss. On a side note, this tutorial is more of an idea explanation, then a step by step. It is not complicated to make so no pictures on the 'how to' are needed. Those are the best kinds of tutorials right? Crafts you can just dive in to creating.

Anthropologie Inspired Picture Frame

Posted by Honor on Monday, March 12, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

This weekend I went on my bi-weekly expeditions to anthropologie to get inspired and see if there was anything I couldn't live without. Of course I can't possibly live without having absolutely everything in the entire store in my possession. But sadly until I win the lottery or anthro so graciously decides to donate the entire collection to moi... I will have to do without...Boo!
But don't worry, I make do. Yes! Anthropologie always gets my creative juices flowing. When I got home still n...

Decorating with Moss

How to Decorate With Moss

Are you a nature lover? Well you can easily bring a little nature in to your home by decorating with moss. I have see this quick craft done before in a variety of ways and wanted to tweak it and use it on something I already had in my home.
I picked up this generic photo holder at Walmart for less than $5 a few month ago. It doesn't really fit into my style so I thought I could amp it up a bit. You could really take moss & a glue gun to just about anything, so be cr...

How to Glitter a Candle

Posted by Honor on Thursday, March 8, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

How to glitter a candle... how to glitter anything actually!

Now this is my kind of craft. Quick, inexpensive and totally girly! I had a serious glitter phase in jr high and I don't think it every truly wore off. My parents would get peeved at me because when my dad was rushing off to some important business meetings, my mom always had to double check his face and person for flecks of glitter. I even remember literally throwing glitter up into the air and letting it rain down into my hair be...

Button Art

Posted by Honor on Sunday, March 4, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

Does any one else love buttons as much as I do? Every time I head to Micheal's or Hobby Lobby I have to upgrade my button stash just a little bit. And don't even get me started about flea markets and the endless vintage ones I can gorge myself on!
I think I am going to do a series on kids room art work and this will be the first one. Fairly simple. You can do letters like this tutorial demonstrates, or you can do little animals or silhouettes. Really the options are only limited my your creat...
