Posted by Honor on Monday, December 9, 2013, In : Life At Home

The holidays are here in full effect. Decorating, baking and shopping are pretty much filling up the calendar. Not to mention a winter wedding (which the entire fam will making an appearance in... dot dot dot.... me included at 32 weeks preggo. J.O.Y).
So here is a quick update to the holiday happenings around this holiday house. The image above is me in heaven. Anthropologie heaven. After years of struggling to get the husband something he REALLY wants for Christmas, I finally relented ...

Gingerbread Houses with the Littles

Posted by Honor on Thursday, December 5, 2013, In : Life At Home

After seeing my pinterest feed blow up with various holiday/gingerbread themed goodies I had a serious decorating/diy itch that need to be scratched. So a quick trip to Walmart to find graham crackers led me down the holiday novelty isle and to my delight I spied this festive kit. How perfect is this?! 4 pre-made gingerbread houses with icing and candies included. All wrapped up in a nice & neat box for a whopping $8. Yes only $8!

So off to Lou's best buds house where us mamas could chat awa...

Holiday Home Tour 2013

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, In : Home Sneek Peek

Welcome to the Kristie Holiday Home Tour version 2013!.... or what I like to call Glittery Gold wonderland. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a single silver ornament in the mix. Nope. This gal is strictly white lights, glittery gold & wood tones. Just feels like the 'holidays' to me with that simple gold color scheme. And glitter.... lots and lots of glitter. Call me traditional, call me an old fogey, but I like to stick to the classics.
Here is what I have so far. Just waiting on s...

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, In : Holiday Decorations

Whoa nelly it's been a bit since I've written! Time to get back into the swing of things eh?! Well, I'll try. I promise. I'll straddle up to the computer with this (already annoyingly large) baby belly and clickity clack away ;)
Last night I had the pleasure of hosting my monthly book club. It is such a delight to be able to keep up with the nearest and dearest to my heart. Composed of college buds and newer comrades we have been going strong for almost 4 years! Through break ups, engagements...

Posted by Honor on Thursday, April 18, 2013, In : Party Decorations

I received quite a few emails about how I made little man's birthday chalkboard signs, so I thought I would tackle another in a DIY version to share with you all.

Easy Christmas Decorating: Bookcase

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, In : Holiday Decorations

These built in bookcases have been the best addition to our living room. The husband gets to feel accomplished by having built them himself and I get to decorate them. When I feel like futzing around I just shuffle the shelving arrangements and I feel like I have really done something with the day. Just kidding. But decorating these behemoths is a real treat. They are the very first thing you see when you enter our living room so I wanted to do something festive but not over whelming. Here...

He said he wanted a big one, Christmas Tree that is

Posted by Honor on Friday, November 30, 2012, In : Holiday Decorations

One of the biggest reasons why I love this man is his child like enthusiasm. He is the one that wakes me up at 4 am on Christmas morning. He is the one that likes to shake every present under the tree and trick me into revealing what is inside. What a stinker! So I totally saw it coming when he told me he wanted to get the largest tree possible... but this is a whole other bag of potato chips.
We went to a new 'cut your own tree' lot this year. It was quite a hike away, but totally worth it...

DIY Simple Country Christmas Mantel

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, In : Holiday Decorations

A little country, a smidgen of rustic, a dash of eclectic and finish it off with a handful of glitter. That is about how I sum up my Christmas decor. I love to incorporate what I already have around the house, such as my vintage window. Top it off with some glittery lights and I am ready to get back to baking some cookies with Lou.
Hope you enjoy my mini tour of my Christmas mantel. Nothing very crazy, but a whole lot of homemade love ;) Hope your decorating is going well.

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, In : Holiday Decorations

Do you feel it yet? Has that Christmas/Holiday spirit nipped you in the booty yet? Yes, I know I know it's not even December yet, but that magical feeling has swept into our home with full gale force winds. A tornado of glitter, tinsel, ornaments and cuttings. As stated before I am trying to limit my store bought holiday decorations and really have a go at crafting up my own batch of goodies. Here is my version of an advent/countdown calendar. A bit country and rustic. Rough around the edges ...

Hallowen Party Success!

Posted by Honor on Monday, October 15, 2012, In : Party Decorations

My little muscle man was pooped out before the party even started!

Well, the party went off with out a hitch. It was a blast! The kiddos bounced to their little hearts content, decorated dozens of mini pumpkins and ate their weight in candy.
I made waaaaay to much food, but hey, leftovers are the best right? And I may have gone overboard with the decorations. Just a little. A smidgen. My only regret is that I wish I took more pics. You all know how it gets before a party. The running around wit...

DIY Spooky Halloween Hallway

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, In : Party Decorations

All you need is some Halloween spider webbing and a pack of spider silhouettes (found @ the Dollar Tree), to create this spooky hallway.

 Some quick tips
* If you have very textured walls you can just secure the webbing to that, otherwise you will need some double stick tape or tacks. My walls were covered in nails (from an empty picture frame display), so I just used those.
* Spread the webbing as thin as possible. It looks more realistic that way.
*Locate the webbing @ just above head height. ...

There really is nothing like a handmade card. Such a special little treat when you open up an envelope and you see this little piece of crafty heaven. Someone made it with their own two hands. It is like getting a chunk of the love chocolate bar via the post.
And giving a handmade card?

Hot Air Balloon Paper Lantern

Hot Air Balloon Paper Lantern

My baby boy is almost here! I am so excited to meet him and frankly I am sooooo over being pregnant. We plan on having Lou and the baby share a room while they are little and I currently love how Lou's room is decorated but fact is... it is a little girly. I want to stay far away from the split up 'boy side & 'girl side'  feeling that many shared gender rooms have, but I do need to add a few more neutral or 'boy' features to the room. With that being said I came ...

As soon as you enter the front door, eyes automatically whiz over to it. Kind of hard to miss. On a side note, this tutorial is more of an idea explanation, then a step by step. It is not complicated to make so no pictures on the 'how to' are needed. Those are the best kinds of tutorials right? Crafts you can just dive in to creating.

How to Glitter a Candle

Posted by Honor on Thursday, March 8, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

How to glitter a candle... how to glitter anything actually!

Now this is my kind of craft. Quick, inexpensive and totally girly! I had a serious glitter phase in jr high and I don't think it every truly wore off. My parents would get peeved at me because when my dad was rushing off to some important business meetings, my mom always had to double check his face and person for flecks of glitter. I even remember literally throwing glitter up into the air and letting it rain down into my hair be...
