Posted by Honor on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, In : Life At Home

Whew! October just seemed to fly right by! November is upon us and I am diving right in. Holla Holiday season!
I'm so so sooo looking forward to holiday baking, trying out a few new Thanksgiving recipes (Which I am hosting this year ....ekkkkk!!!), Christmas music, Christmas shopping for the littles and all the rest of the fun festive festivities that come with this time of year. I cherish this time as the littles are really starting to comprehend the 'Holidays' and will remember these times f...

Visiting the Pumpkin Patch

Posted by Honor on Friday, October 18, 2013, In : Life At Home

Queen of the pumpkin mountain, this feisty little one is ^^^^. Insisted on wearing her witch hat to the pumpkin patch and then proceeded to prance and jump from one orange orb to the next. Which in turn inspired bubba to roam around the giants mounds as well. Which I thought was adorable, but glares from other moms gave me the impression that they thought I was raising a wild pack of hooligans. Oh well.... different strokes for different folks. They are just pumpkins at a patch ya know?! I...

Fall Halloween Tablescape... the morning after

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, In : Holiday Decorations

Whoa nelly it's been a bit since I've written! Time to get back into the swing of things eh?! Well, I'll try. I promise. I'll straddle up to the computer with this (already annoyingly large) baby belly and clickity clack away ;)
Last night I had the pleasure of hosting my monthly book club. It is such a delight to be able to keep up with the nearest and dearest to my heart. Composed of college buds and newer comrades we have been going strong for almost 4 years! Through break ups, engagements...

Reason #1,329,901 Why I Love This Man

Posted by Honor on Thursday, November 1, 2012, In : Life At Home
He wears our babies, and looks damn good doing it. Nuff said

Our little owl and her uncle. Uncles are the greatest, aren't they? I have so many fond memories of my favorite uncle. Yes, I said it... favorite. I was like a kid the night before Christmas when I knew he was coming for a visit (It also helps that he was more like a big brother than an Uncle being 19 years my fathers junior). I have a feeling my brother will be Lou's fav. He is her go-to person when we are playing make believe.

Boo Y'all

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, In : Life At Home

Happy Halloween!!! Just finished up this little nugget's costume and about to finish Lou's. A few snaps before we head out to go trick and treating. Yes.... trick and treat. Because with these three you never know, and my husband is the worst! Scaring babies and kittens is one of his favorite past time (Not really... well maybe a little)

Wax lips anyone?

DIY Eat, Drink & Be Scary Halloween Sign

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

This was a favorite at our Halloween Party. It was set up at our 'adult' drink table. Beergaritas was our drink of choice. (Our tweaked recipe to follow! Yummy for sure).
This DIY is really simple and more of an idea & inspiration for your own Halloween DIYs.

Supplies: Piece of unfinished wood, orange craft paint, black puff paint, polyurethane, rag or paint brush, pencil and bowl
Steps:
1. Start with an unfinished and clean piece of wood. Mine is about 12" x 24" and 2" thick. A nice solid chunk...

Hallowen Party Success!

Posted by Honor on Monday, October 15, 2012, In : Party Decorations

My little muscle man was pooped out before the party even started!

Well, the party went off with out a hitch. It was a blast! The kiddos bounced to their little hearts content, decorated dozens of mini pumpkins and ate their weight in candy.
I made waaaaay to much food, but hey, leftovers are the best right? And I may have gone overboard with the decorations. Just a little. A smidgen. My only regret is that I wish I took more pics. You all know how it gets before a party. The running around wit...

DIY Spooky Halloween Hallway

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, In : Party Decorations

All you need is some Halloween spider webbing and a pack of spider silhouettes (found @ the Dollar Tree), to create this spooky hallway.

 Some quick tips
* If you have very textured walls you can just secure the webbing to that, otherwise you will need some double stick tape or tacks. My walls were covered in nails (from an empty picture frame display), so I just used those.
* Spread the webbing as thin as possible. It looks more realistic that way.
*Locate the webbing @ just above head height. ...

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, In : Party Decorations

So this post is the first of a million-trillion-gazillion more to come. Just a little forewarning. Turn back now if you no-likey Halloweenie, because this lady is one mad crafting witch (witch in a good way... Tee-Hee-Hee)

I am totally entranced with Halloween this year. I find myself day dreaming about pumpkins, witches and spiderwebs. About candy apples, mummy cupcakes and frozen hand ice-cubes. Know what I am talking about? Put some water in a latex glove, freeze it and then remove the g...

It just needed a little clarification and this sign is just what was in order... here we go!

Pre Halloween 2012

Posted by Honor on Thursday, September 20, 2012, In : Life At Home
So here are a few snapshots around the house pre-Halloween. Starting to break out my fall decorations. First pic is of some super cute (and easy to DIY) plush pumpkins. You can find some tuts here, here or here.

Handsome bugger isn't he? I picked him up here.

Is it to early to break out the wheat & pumpkins? When really, is it ok to start decorating for fall? Here in southern California it is hard to tell when fall actually starts.

I'll make sure to do a side by side when this mantel is all done...

Party Prepp'n

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, In : Life At Home

Invitations are being sent. Decorations are being put together. Recipes are being researched.

I am in complete and total party prep mode. Yes I have a month till the party but I think that half the fun is the prep. Am I alone in this thought and feeling? Probably not. But it seems that I like imposing a little stress on myself. Life has been running a little to smoothly... to peaceful... to serene. Nothing like a party to put you in total manic-panic mode. Why do we do this? Impose deadlines...

What is up... things to come

Posted by Honor Hansen on Monday, September 10, 2012, In : Life At Home
Sooo. I know I promised a DIY stitched envelope tutorial. It is coming. I just had to pick up some thread in a different color. Don't worry it will be worth it.. you will be able to bath in all it's cuteness glory.
But mostly I wanted to check in and let you know that this weekend was dedicated to prepping for my Halloween extravaganza. A little early? Yeah I guess so... but I plan on starting a family tradition of a totally awesome blow-your-socks-off Halloween Costume party and I w...
