DIY Anthropologie Feather and Antler Ornaments

Posted by Honor on Thursday, November 20, 2014, In : Holiday Decorations

So it's a balmy 72 degrees outside and you're trying to get into the holiday spirit, what do you do? First off, yes, I live in San Diego, so yes, it really is 72 or really closer to 78 outside. Snowpocalypse? What's that? Is it really lovely all the time here? Definitely. Hard to get into the holiday spirit? Excruciatingly so. My go to besides spotify is the anthropolgie website. It's always packed with cutesie snow/holiday themed graphics and gimmicks perfectly aimed to get you into the holi...

Trash 2 Treasure: How to Save Your Junky Old Costume Jewelry

Posted by Honor on Thursday, September 12, 2013, In : Accessories

Wait! Stop! Halt! Do NOT throw out your worn junky looking costume jewelry! You know what I'm talking about.... Any self respecting lay-day has a drawer full of bracelets, rings and necklaces that are either missing some rhinestones/jewels or have half the plating rubbed off to reveal that icky bronzy cheapy looking color. Ugh right? These pieces were so loved at one time, but now cast aside, scorned to be long forgotten in the 'jewelry junk drawer'. But have no fear! All is not lost! With a ...

DIY Watercolor Flower Pin

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, In : Accessories

Guess who is on a pink and orange kick?

    Moi!

My diy watercolor spritzed envelopes from yesterday were only the beginning! Not only am I embellishing my correspondence with O&P now I am adorning myself with the cheery color combo. During the fall/winter, I find myself pining for the bold colors and life of spring/summer. So how do I put on a happy face? By pinning on a flower to my jacket or scarf. I made a big ol batch of simple flower pins a couple of falls ago and now they are...

DIY Watercolor Bangle

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, In : Accessories

I knew there was something I could do with all those left over tape rolls!

Do you do that? Hoard left overs until you can figure out a way to reuse them? I swear about 90% of my office closet is full of those so called 'craft supplies'. Think bags of wine corks, toilet and paper towel tubes, wrapping paper scraps... pretty much everything you would call trash. But I can't do it! I guess it is the hoarder coming out in me. You know we all have a little of that. Hoardism. Hoardalitis. Hoardlue...

DIY Kate Spade Scallop Necklace

Posted by Honor on Monday, January 7, 2013, In : Accessories
So lately I have had glitter on the brain. Could it be because I was asked to collaborate with a big name on some glitter diys? (YAYYYYYYYY YIPPPPEEEE for me ;) ) Yeah I bet that's it. Details to come soon. Big toothy grin over here.

But anyway I have been brainstorming up a storm (punny right?!) for this feature diy. Brainstorming is kind of my thing. I love bubble charts and lists. Any scrap piece of paper is subject to my doodles and ideas. But now that my feature diy is complete I tho...

and here is how I did it... note: this diy is demonstrated on a different pair of earrings but you will get the gist.

DIY Leather and Studs Necklace

Posted by Honor on Thursday, November 8, 2012, In : Accessories

Anyone remember Fiona Paxton? I sure do. Miz Paxton is a fabulous, glamorous, tremendous all the 'ous' adjectives you can think of, jewelry designer. Her beaded/chain Sylvie necklaces were all the rage a few years ago.

They were popping up all over the place and on every 'it' female fashionista. Think Jessica Alba, Hilary Duff, Cameron Diaz ect ect ect. Well oh well... to this day I still think about those suckers and wish that I had a few hundo laying around so I could score myself one of th...

DIY Leather Fringe Necklace

Posted by Honor on Monday, October 1, 2012, In : Accessories
Hey Hey Hey Hi Hi Hi... I am all hopped up on creative juices. They are a'flowin. I am up to my eyeballs in Halloween decorations and thought I would take a quick breather to share a jewelry DIY. Give my spider web weaving fingertips a rest and let me noodle think about something else other than skulls, spiders and witches.

This fancy schmancy necklace gets a lot of compliments (but doesn't take very long to make and requires ZERO skills). If you can wield a pair of scissors and a hot glue gun...

DIY Fabric Scrap Bib Necklace

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, In : Accessories

Alright time to jump on the bib necklace bandwagon. You see them allllll over the place. At first glance I was like 'yeah right I really want to look like a gladiator/baby'... gladiator because it reminded me of armor and baby because it reminded me of well, a bib. But as always fashion styles grow on me until I find myself wearing a beret, harem pants a fur vest and lace boot socks all at the same time ;). Ok a little over the top but I honestly have changed my opinion on bib neckl...

DIY Faux Metal Lace Cuff

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, In : Accessories
Ahhh September fashion issue... I do love you and your 'two-inch-thick-ad-section-before-you-even-get-to-the-table-of-contents'.  Lately I am loving the metal lace cuff bracelets that are showing up here and there. One such designer of these cuffs is Aurelie Bidermann. Her wares sell @ Bloomingdales, Barneys and Net-a-porter. All way way wayyyyy out of my price range.

ouch! this bad boy sells for over $1,800.... well... it is dipped in 18 karat gold.

Here is my version. Pretty good for 5 doll ...

DIY No Beading Indian Beaded Bracelet

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, In : Accessories
so lately I have really been feeling the Indian beaded bracelet look. Perfect for summer. Free spirited. Just plain cool and they really never go out of style. A classic.

What is not so cool is how time consuming they seem to be. Granted I have never tried to make one, they just seem to be time consuming.

Plus I don't have any of the supplies required to make them.

So here is what I believe to be a clever way to make a faux Indian beaded bracelet.

Had a few tassels and jewels left over from previous DIYs, so thought I would whip myself up a quick necklace.
Here we go

What you need: Some silk cord (neon pink is the best kind), some jewels, a tassel and some scissors.
What to do: First I cut off a length of the silk cord, longer the better. Then I strung my large tassel and fished a big jewel loop on to ...

Ready for a super quickie?! This project literally takes two minutes and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Super simple and super 'anthropologie chic'. Enjoy

What you need: A medium to large sized doily. I picked up my colorful one from the $1 section at Micheal's. An embroidery hoop that is a touch smaller than the doily and lastly your earrings that lay about in disarray.
What to do. Unscrew the embroidery hoop clasp a touch. Secure the doily in place between the two pieces of the embro...

Friday Finishline

Posted by Honor on Friday, April 6, 2012, In : Friday Finish Line

I am totally gushing over Druzy Stone Jewelry, and have been spending quite a bit of time gawking over these pieces of jewelry for sale on etsy. I really like how the rough natural feel of the stone looks when it is paired with smooth shininess of gold or silver. But all this gawking is not in vain....I'm thinking that I can make something very similar to the druzy stone out of some glue & glitter. Check back in on Monday!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Pearl Embellished Bangle: Recycle Your Junk Jewelry

How to Make a Pearl Embellished Bangle Bracelet

This DIY is more of an idea than a tutorial. Just a reminder that you probably already have great accessories laying about the house, you just need to be a bit creative with your household materials. I regularly raid my jewelry stash and tear up all the Forever 21/Clarie's ect jewelry. None of it is very expensive and it usually doesn't hold up to wear and tear very well, so I get rid of the cheap parts and keep the interesting better made compo...
