DIY Gallery Wall: Chalkboard Canvases

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, In : Decor Crafts

When this diy came to me I smacked myself on the forehead and said "Doy!".

So....I have been slacking on getting the kids room together. Seriously slacking. But this weekend I got it in my head to get'er done.... well, at least started. My first mission: The Gallery Wall.
But
always a but
I didn't want to spend a thing. And I didn't. I gathered up some old canvases from the depths of the hall closet and spray painted them with chalkboard paint. The canvases were sourced from Hobby Lobby (intend...

DIY Lighted Letters Sign

Posted by Honor on Thursday, February 28, 2013, In : Party Decorations

Lighted signs or aka Marquee signs are all the rage now. Well at least on pinterest and craft sites. Here, let's take a moment to look at some eye candy

Via Etsy (Gorge!)

Via Etsy (Almost a GRAND for this one!!!)

Via Etsy (Really? One letter for $215? Hummmm I love it but that is pretty rich, which I'm not)

Most of the DIY versions are overly involved cutting, gluing, drilling, sawing, spinning, crocheting, magical potions.... ok, maybe not those last three. But in general all the diy versions ...

Sewing Series: DIY 5 Minute Little Girl Skirt

Posted by Honor on Saturday, November 10, 2012, In : Clothing

I used to sew a ton. I was a serging and stitching maniac. Any and everything from million layer tulle tutus (yes, an adult can wear a tutu... think Carrie from SATH), to maxi dresses and even a tank top or two. Jersey was my favorite, but man o man is it a finicky fabric to work with! Definitely not for beginners.

It has been a few years since I broke out the sewing machine for a 'serious' sewing project so I thought I would ease myself back in. As in I will stitch up a few items for Lou... ...

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

DO IT YOURSELF Bookcase Dollhouse

A perfect rainy day project. This little old lady of a bookcase was fancified over the weekend. All it took was me dragging out my unbelievably large stash of scrapbook paper, scissors and many glue sticks.
Plus # 1: It is free! Go green right? Recycle, reduce and reuse...
Plus # 2: The kids can participate.
Plus # 3: The finished product is so darn toot'n cute.

Here we go... tricks and tips follow below each picture but this DIY is pretty self explanatory...

6 Must Know Hairstyles For Your Toddler

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, In : Beauty
Felt like playing dress up and doing my toddler's hair this morning.

These pics are the result of said playtime.

While this was just for fun,  I really do always find myself using these hairstyles on Lou. Simple and quick. Quick enough for a squirmy toddler.

Enjoy!

Supplies: Lots of little elastics, Lots of clippies, a good brush, a couple of headbands and lots of patience.

Ahhh! This is how the princess makes her appearance in the morning. Two little frown lines and one messy head of hair.

Felt Birdhouse: Spring Time Craft Idea

Posted by Honor Hansen on Monday, March 19, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

How to Make a Felt Birdhouse

So colorful and cheerful right? Just perfect for springtime. I have this cute bugger adorning my bookcase in the living room. As soon as you enter the front door, eyes automatically whiz over to it. Kind of hard to miss. On a side note, this tutorial is more of an idea explanation, then a step by step. It is not complicated to make so no pictures on the 'how to' are needed. Those are the best kinds of tutorials right? Crafts you can just dive in to creating.

Button Art

Posted by Honor on Sunday, March 4, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

Does any one else love buttons as much as I do? Every time I head to Micheal's or Hobby Lobby I have to upgrade my button stash just a little bit. And don't even get me started about flea markets and the endless vintage ones I can gorge myself on!
I think I am going to do a series on kids room art work and this will be the first one. Fairly simple. You can do letters like this tutorial demonstrates, or you can do little animals or silhouettes. Really the options are only limited my your creat...
