Today was a good day... Beach Day

In order to escape the blazing-hot-surface-of-the-sun-indian-summer we are experiencing here in southern California, we did what any sane family would do and headed to the beach. Chalk Paint Fail

Mama bear tried a little experiment today... and it failed.

Mommy dearest tried her hand at some homemade chalk paint from a couple of recipes found online. Lou saw me mixing it up and was convinced I was baking a cake so all she wanted to do was taste it. Yucky. Bleck.

But Lou with the attitude had a great time so I guess it is not really a fail. Right? I'll just tell myself that and call it a day.

Have some summer fun with a triple bun! I whip up this hair style when I am feeling a little frisky... really boosts the mood! Little kids always ask me about this hairstyle and how it is done... maybe it is the Dr. Seuss-ian quality. It is really simple and fun... that is what hair is all about, fun!

Family Fun Can Be Scary?

This weekend we attended a distant relation family reunion on the hubs side. Something like his mothers brothers uncles aunts grandmothers brothers ect ect ect 90th birthday. We were welcomed with open arms. While the hubs is somewhat over large family get-togethers, I on the other hand love em. Can't get enough of family (even if it really isn't mine?).

This weekend was fab-u-lous. It really reminded me to enjoy the little things, to take a breather and look at the things around you. Our worlds have grown so big so quickly that small summertime experiences so often get over looked.

It also made it blatantly obvious that my level of patience has... exponentially increased :). Which is a good thing. Which is also a must with two small children. I honestly admit that before the kiddos came I was ummm... a little high strung, just a touch....

Summer Snaphots (Fourth of July)

We had an early start to the fourth. The hubs had his eye on a truck that was for sale... about two hours away. So we packed up the kids bright and early and went for a little road trip. Wish I had brought the camera to capture some pics, but with my eyes all sleepy-sleepy I'm surprised I made it into the car. Anyway, that truck was a no go but we got to have a nice convo sesh with the kiddos sound asleep in the back.
