Maternity Street Style: 25 Weeks

Posted by Honor on Friday, October 25, 2013, In : Clothing

So here I am. So here WE are! 26 weeks along and this little fella is a kickin and cookin. I have a love/hate relationship with this point in pregnancy. Love it that I have a visible bump and that it just doesn't look like I downed a few to many cheese burgers (Also love that the boobage has returned). Hate that I really do have to use maternity pants and that the whole 'mobility' thing? It's fading fast. Ugh. It happens earlier with each baby. The hips are a-achin and the feet are a-swell...

DIY Glitter Applique Chambray Shirt

Posted by Honor on Saturday, July 6, 2013, In : Clothing

It's a glitter kinda day around here. But who wants a great big fat glittery mess? No thanks. So this ^^^^ is how I get my glitter on with out any stress. Basically it's just creating your very own glitter applique. You could go all simple and just do dots or hearts like I did here and here.... or you can get a little more tricky and use tracing paper to make a pattern of specific shapes. Here are the deets more in depth

1. Decide what part you want to be covered with the glitter applique a...

DIY Dip Dye Dress (Nail Polish Disaster Rescue)

Posted by Honor on Monday, June 17, 2013, In : Clothing

I remember the days. The days where I could wear and own white clothing without fear. White tees were part of my weekly repertoire. White pants were a definite summer favorite. And white lacey dress.... ah white lacy dress were my absolute 'feel good'. I slipped one of those babies on and I was feeling super pretty and ready to take on the world.

but now

now...

I have two babies. And with those babies comes a whole new world of messy, dirty, yucky, sticky-fingerness. Something my poor poor cloth...

DIY Rhinestone Embellished Cardi

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, In : Clothing

In anticipation of our fam's big spring break trip to Chicago I have been DIY'n some new duds like a mo-fo. I have been a'sewing and weaving and knitting and crocheting and plucking peacock feathers and dabbling in some millinery... you know the usual.

Yeah right. Let's just stick to the craft I like to call, 'Glueage'. Where one can make designer like ensembles simply by slapping some glue on some stones. Like the Big Baubles top from yesterday. Now that's what I'm talking about. This here D...

Anyone else stoked on the whole embellishments tend? Yes? No? I feel like you can never have enough beading, jewels, lace, dancing elephants, tambourine monkies, and umph! on clothing. I'...

Sewing Series: Girls A Line Dress

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, In : Clothing

Here is the third installment of my ' ease back into sewing like how you gingerly dip into a jacuzzi' sewing series. This is my version of an A line dress, basically the same but with a tweak here and there. This one is a little more complicated than the easy 5 minute flouncy skirt and bubble skirt... but not by that much.

The A line dress is another one of those little things that every crafter should know. It seems more complicated than it actually is. In fact all of the sewing projects that...

Sewing Series: 5 Minute Little Girl's Bubble Skirt

Posted by Honor on Monday, November 12, 2012, In : Clothing
Continuing on with my mini sewing series. A few days ago I showed you how to make a Flouncy Skirt. Today I show you my foray into bubbledom. Which is basically the same as the flouncy skirt, just with one tweak. It is an easy tweak so don't get your knickers in a knot. Not one of my sewing tuts are difficult. I want to encourage myself (and you!) to sew more, not less by biting off more than I can chew, or stitch :)

Don't you think bubble shape is so darn cute and perfect for a little girl t...

Sewing Series: DIY 5 Minute Little Girl Skirt

Posted by Honor on Saturday, November 10, 2012, In : Clothing

I used to sew a ton. I was a serging and stitching maniac. Any and everything from million layer tulle tutus (yes, an adult can wear a tutu... think Carrie from SATH), to maxi dresses and even a tank top or two. Jersey was my favorite, but man o man is it a finicky fabric to work with! Definitely not for beginners.

It has been a few years since I broke out the sewing machine for a 'serious' sewing project so I thought I would ease myself back in. As in I will stitch up a few items for Lou... ...

DIY Fur Boot Socks

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, In : Clothing

Finally we are feeling the fall here in southern California.

Yeahhhhhh! Yes! Whoot-whoot! Oh Boooy :)

Feel my enthusiasm? No? Well how about another whoopeeeee!

We live in an interesting part of San Diego. Far enough away from the coast to avoid the constant marine layer during May-June-July, but close enough to the mountains to see the thunderheads and count the lighting strikes but avoid the torrential downpour. So as I watched the thunderheads yesterday with the kiddos and perused the intran...

DIY Faux Beaded Top

Posted by Honor on Friday, September 7, 2012, In : Clothing

Ok so this DIY is a total rip off of my DIY Faux 'Beaded' Indian Beaded Bracelet, same concept just applied differently...I guess I am just flattering myself by copying it :)

So this whole husband working nights has really freed up some time for me. I probably could go completely 'old lady' and pick up hand embroidery and hand beading (no offense if you enjoy these past times... but I have yet to encounter a fellow 26 year old who does ;). I love the look but not so in love with the effo...

DIY Layers of Lace Cardigan

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, In : Clothing
Feel like fall yet for you? Not quite fall-like here... high eighties with a hot hot breeze. Not really sweater weather either... but I just had to scratch this itch I have had lately for lace. Lace is just so pretty. I love lace in an old-lady-crocheting-doilies-in-her-recliner-with-a-lace-shawl-over-her-shoulders kind of way... not so much the hot-child-in-the-city kind of way. If you catch my drift. So here is my ode to my fellow old lady lace loving sisters...

Swarovski Crystal Pocket Tee DIY

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, In : Clothing
As promised here is another DIY about bling and clothing. This simple addition to a tee makes a world of difference. Yes it is a plain tee from Target, but you could easily dress it up for a night out on the town.

Say what? Wear a tee to go out?!

Yes ma'am... you don't have to sacrifice comfort for style. Here we go!

This is basically the same DIY as the studded pocket cutoffs... just a change in item to decorate and the iron on pieces.
You can pick up hot fix Swarovski Crystal here. You won...

DIY Gold Studded Pocket Cutoffs

Posted by Honor on Monday, August 6, 2012, In : Clothing
This diy can't get any simpler. Even though it is like a mini promo for my other business Sue's Sparklers... I'm sure you will like it.
As I stated before this month has been dedicated to revamping my closet. Even if that means a little touch up here and there. I really like how rock and roll this came out, yet it isn't too hard core. Even a mom sporting a baby carrier and pushing a tot around can rock this trend. Enjoy!

Tips & Pointers:
What you need: Your regular old iron, a hand full of ir...

DIY Anthropologie Scarf

Posted by Honor on Friday, July 27, 2012, In : Clothing
So this week has been dedicated to updating my summer wardrobe. Yes a little late... but it is Southern California here where it is summer, like, all the time.
I was browsing in anthro the other day and I saw these great summer scarves.

The $48 price tags are not so great.

So bingo bongo make it myself

so awkward looking at a camera when you are taking a pic of yourself. So please excuse the sideways glances ;)

Tips & Pointers: Ok basic run through. Take two old tees and...

Bleach Tanks (Embellishing clothes with bleach)

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, In : Clothing
Soooo any who.
I needed to update my summer wardrobe and didn't want to spend much $$$. I was at good ol' Wally Mart doing some shopping and spotted these plain tanks on sale of $3. Three bucks! So I scooped up a variety of colors not really sure what I was going to do with them. Sure they are fine by themselves, but that wouldn't be very crafty now would it?
So once at home I futzed around looking through my closets for 'stuff' to spice things up a bit.

Buttons? No not feeling those

Ribbon? Umm...

Aren't bow ties just adorable?! And bow ties on a BABY BOY?! With his chubby wubby little cheekies... awwwwww.

Ok I'll stop it! But I really do love this little tutorial. Bow ties are made in so many ways. You could easily create a bow tie applique. Please see my applique tutorial if this interests you by clicking HERE
This tutorial is no sew, but you could very easliy follow these steps and hand stitch instead of using hot glue. It would probably stay put better with a little stit...

Applique Onesie

Posted by Honor Hansen on Saturday, March 3, 2012, In : Clothing

Ever gone to Target, Gymboree or Janie & Jack and say 'Oh I could make that!'... well every time I go to those stores I say that, but it wasn't until now that I actually DID anything about it :) The applique tutorial is fairly simple and gets easier every time you do it. I have a little boy on the way, the 4th boy of all the grandchildren so I am endowed with loads of hand me downs. Not that I am not grateful for the HMDs, but they just didn't feel like him. Is it possible for your unborn ...
