DIY Birthday 'Stats' Chalkboard

Posted by Honor on Thursday, April 18, 2013, In : Party Decorations

I received quite a few emails about how I made little man's birthday chalkboard signs, so I thought I would tackle another in a DIY version to share with you all.
While google'n and pinteresting decor ideas for LM's bday I came across the most adorable chalk signs on etsy. I don't remember who they were by, but they did cost a pretty penny. Not in the budget. But hey it's just chalk right? Should be simple right? Ummm yes and ah no.  Read on for my tips and tricks for tackling a chalkboard sig...

DIY Neon Garland

Posted by Honor on Thursday, March 7, 2013, In : Party Decorations

Can't believe that my little man is almost a year old! Whew time sure flies!

But then it doesn't

But then it does... know what I mean? Nights are long, days are short. You know, things like that.

Anywhos. I'm getting in gear to partay. Heeeey. But I gotta keep this party on a budget, man. A strictly diy kind of event. Those are the best anyways. A little crooked, a little wonky, but perfectly mushy gushy sentimental.

You can't have a party with out a string of garland or two. I was in Lowe's th...

DIY Lighted Letters Sign

Posted by Honor on Thursday, February 28, 2013, In : Party Decorations

Lighted signs or aka Marquee signs are all the rage now. Well at least on pinterest and craft sites. Here, let's take a moment to look at some eye candy

Via Etsy (Gorge!)

Via Etsy (Almost a GRAND for this one!!!)

Via Etsy (Really? One letter for $215? Hummmm I love it but that is pretty rich, which I'm not)

Most of the DIY versions are overly involved cutting, gluing, drilling, sawing, spinning, crocheting, magical potions.... ok, maybe not those last three. But in general all the diy versions ...

DIY Watercolor Spritzed Envelopes

Posted by Honor on Monday, February 18, 2013, In : Party Decorations

Not much is better than receiving a pretty personal piece of mail (say that five times fast!). You know what I mean. Like when you were seven, ripping open the birthday card from dear ol granny. Or like the time you tenderly peeled back the edge to see the beautiful wedding invite from your best friend.  Or like when you gingerly open one of the numerous holiday cards, to be greeted by smiling faces and a drooling tongue (of your friend's dog... not their kid... hopefully).

   Why not make ...

DIY Hand Stamped Wrapping Paper

Posted by Honor on Monday, December 17, 2012, In : Party Decorations
Back into the swing of things I guess?! Crafting always helped clear my mind (aka distract me from the incessant thoughts and worries buzzing around up there). So what better way to distract myself than with the thoughts of my loved ones faces when I present them with these b-e-a-utiful hand wrapped lovelies.

I did a little experimenting today. Stamp experimenting that is. I did a few variations and this is the first one that I deemed fit to share with you. I tried all sorts of things to stam...

Gift Wrapping Ideas: Brown Kraft Paper

Posted by Honor on Friday, December 14, 2012, In : Party Decorations

Brown Kraft paper is my go-to when it comes to wrapping. It is such a great blank canvas. Lots of different possibilities. Perfect for any crafter to be, well, crafty :)
It is also a great big-o plus that it comes on a HUGE roll and cost only a few bucks. My kind of craft supply. So of course this year is no exception when it came down to wrapping and mailing out some Christmas presents. I rolled out my never ending roll and gathered together some accoutrements and got down to business.  I ...

DIY Paper Plate Flowers

Posted by Honor on Thursday, December 13, 2012, In : Party Decorations

So we are in the middle of a room shuffle. My office is becoming the shared kids room and Lou's old room is becoming my office. This makes the most sense because my old office space is HUGE, just perfect for two little bodies to crawl around in and it seemed selfish of me to horde all that space for myself. So.... right now I am up to my eyeballs in boxes to donate, papers to file, clothes to sort ect ect ect. All the 'fun' stuff. Fun Fun Fun. So of course during nap time I neglected the orga...

Hallowen Party Success!

Posted by Honor on Monday, October 15, 2012, In : Party Decorations

My little muscle man was pooped out before the party even started!

Well, the party went off with out a hitch. It was a blast! The kiddos bounced to their little hearts content, decorated dozens of mini pumpkins and ate their weight in candy.
I made waaaaay to much food, but hey, leftovers are the best right? And I may have gone overboard with the decorations. Just a little. A smidgen. My only regret is that I wish I took more pics. You all know how it gets before a party. The running around wit...

DIY Spooky Halloween Hallway

Posted by Honor on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, In : Party Decorations

All you need is some Halloween spider webbing and a pack of spider silhouettes (found @ the Dollar Tree), to create this spooky hallway.

 Some quick tips
* If you have very textured walls you can just secure the webbing to that, otherwise you will need some double stick tape or tacks. My walls were covered in nails (from an empty picture frame display), so I just used those.
* Spread the webbing as thin as possible. It looks more realistic that way.
*Locate the webbing @ just above head height. ...

I am totally entranced with Halloween this year. I find myself day dreaming about pumpkins, witches and spiderwebs. About candy apples, mummy cupcakes and frozen hand ice-cubes. Know what I am talking about? Put some water in a latex glove, freeze it and then remove the g...

Hot Air Balloon Paper Lantern

Hot Air Balloon Paper Lantern

My baby boy is almost here! I am so excited to meet him and frankly I am sooooo over being pregnant. We plan on having Lou and the baby share a room while they are little and I currently love how Lou's room is decorated but fact is... it is a little girly. I want to stay far away from the split up 'boy side & 'girl side'  feeling that many shared gender rooms have, but I do need to add a few more neutral or 'boy' features to the room. With that being said I came ...
