Happy Weekend & Painted Bookcase Inspo

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, In : Pinspiration

This weekend was a good one. Full of friends, carnivals, movies and concerts. And it started off being planned as a 'staycation' where our family would hole up in the house and not . do . a . thang. Funny how summer does that. You start off with nothing then sooner than you know you have a whole lotta something full of fun people in fun places. It was a life saver. Mama was definitely in a funk and needed a reminder not to be so uptight. Family is messy and that is the way it should be, not...

Currently Reading: Restore, Recycle, Repurpose

Posted by Honor on Thursday, March 28, 2013, In : Crafter's Toolbox

I am currently reading (and completely, devoutly, utterly infatuated with) Restore, Recycle, Repurpose By Randy Florke with Nancy J Becker. A Country Living book. As in the Country Living magazine. As in what I wait gleefully and impatiently for every month by the mail box.. like a total kook. I study every minute detail of that mag until my eyes hurt. Posted by Honor on Friday, March 1, 2013, In : Crafter's Toolbox

During our weekly pilgrimage to the library, I decided to take a little detour into the non fiction department. I've seen it on the shelves of all the poshest places... anthro, free people, urban, B&N. Except that $40 price tag always held me back. So I scooped that sucker up along with two armloads of other architecture bo...

Easy Christmas Decorating: Bookcase

Posted by Honor on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, In : Holiday Decorations

These built in bookcases have been the best addition to our living room. The husband gets to feel accomplished by having built them himself and I get to decorate them. When I feel like futzing around I just shuffle the shelving arrangements and I feel like I have really done something with the day. Just kidding. But decorating these behemoths is a real treat. They are the very first thing you see when you enter our living room so I wanted to do something festive but not over whelming. Here...

DIY Book Vase

Posted by Honor on Friday, August 31, 2012, In : Decor Crafts

This one goes out to all my fellow bibliophiles.... holla!

Brass Tacks: Pretty self explanatory here. Find a big ol book, slice it up and shove in a couple of bud vases....

ok that wasn't much help was it?

The key to this DIY is finding a bud vase that will fit inside a book. In this case my book was the 7th installment of Harry Potter (sorry Harry!). It was big, bulky and taking up space... time to re-purpose. I found the little bud vases at where else, Hobby Lobby. They were on sale and were ...
