Halloween Dirt Pie Recipe – Delicious Homemade Pie

Can we just take a minute to gawk at this tasty creation?!?!?

gawk… gawk… still gawking… ok I’m done.

Ingredients & Supplies:

  • One large trifle dish. This is optional but seeing the layers is what makes this dish so special.
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 Packages of cream cheese (2 x 8oz)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2  packs of instant vanilla pudding
  • 3 1/2 cups of milk
  • 12 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
  • One large package of Oreo cookies, crushed finely.  About 40 cookies
  • 1 package of Gummy worms

Creamy-goodness layers: In one bowl make the vanilla pudding by following the directions on the packs. Fold in the cool whip and set aside. In another bowl mix the butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar. Then mix the two bowls together.

Dirt: Finely chop up the entire package of Oreos. A food processor is an excellent tool for this step. If you don’t have one just be prepared for a bit of a mess. Those darn crumbs get everywhere!

Next is the layering. Start with the ‘dirt’ then layer on the creamy-goodness. Work your way up, one layer at a time. I like making the ‘dirt’ layer not level. If you want to mix in a gummy worm here and there as a surprise. Finish off with a ‘dirt’ layer and poke in a few worms. Put it in the fridge and let it set up for at least two hours. Best if served cold and with a HUGE spoon so you get plenty of this madness in your mouth!

Perfect for Halloween! Sure to be a real show stopper at any fall shindig.
